Charterhouse Photography Day

Photography Day at Charterhouse - Friday April 12th 2013. 10am - 4pm.

A privileged opportunity to photograph the buildings and architectural details of this great public school.
 
Suitable for improvers/intermediate level photographers and all types of camera. 
Course overview:Morning classroom based session, camera controls - exposure and image capture. Lenses and depth of field. Composition and framing of image. Considerations for photographing buildings.
Practical session looking at and photographing the buildings around the school site. Followed by a lunch break (attendees can make their own arrangements or use the Charterhouse Club Cafe).
Afternoon classroom session looking at a selection of images from the practical session and covering image processing. Finishing with a Question and Answer session.
The tutor will be professional photographer Mike Sleigh who has a passion for heritage and over 30 years experience in photography and education.

Westminster PhotoWalk

A rather dull day in Westminster for the PhotoWalk from Charing Cross to Parliament Square but at least it did not rain! Had to fight my way through the throngs of tourists in Whitehall and around The Houses of Parliament.

I managed to get a few shots of the old MOD building with a spot of winter sunlight on it and that was that for any good shots. Took a few reference photos of the sculpture on Victoria Tower but need to return when 'the light is right'

Photography 'PhotoWalk' in Westminster

Our next 'PhotoWalk' will be in Westminster on Saturday 17th November. Charing Cross to Parliament Square. Starts at 11am by the Charing Cross and ends 2pm at in Parliament Square..

We will look at interesting buildings along the way, including a number of important government buildings which stretch along Whitehall.

The walk is suitable for any type of camera and any ability - beginners welcome. The walks are leisurely and sociable with help and advice given when needed.

Photography 'PhotoWalk' in London 15th September

Our next 'PhotoWalk' in The City of London is on Sunday 15th September. London Bridge to Bank. Starts at 11am by The Monument and ends 2pm at Bank Station.

We will look at a number of interesting buildings along the way, including a number of bank buildings which have made their mark on the city.

The walk is suitable for any type of camera and any ability - beginners welcome. The walks are leisurely and sociable and we usually break for refreshment and a review.

Guildford 'PhotoWalk' 26 August

Looks like it will be good weather for the PhotoWalk in Guildford - our 3rd walk around the town, covering a new route to the Upper High Street, then the top of North Street before returning to and crossing the High Street to Tunsgate. Then around the Castle grounds and out into Chapel Street, back to the High Street and down to the Town Bridge.

Southwark & Bankside

An enjoyable PhotoWalk in the Southwark & Bankside areas last Saturday. Hot and very sunny but plenty of things to see and photograph. It was very busy around Borough Market and in Bankside with lots of tourists walking along the Southbank.

We ended the PhotoWalk at Southwark bridge after 3 hours of looking around. Good to stop at EAT and have one of their 'Big' Teas, excellent value at £1.60 (with 2 tea bags) and one of the best teas in town!

Then went on to look into The Tanks at Tate Modern and to visit the new station at Blackfriars - a great improvement on the old dingy station and interesting in that the platforms are on the bridge and it has an entrance each side of the river.

Southwark 'PhotoWalk' 18th August

Looks like it's going to be hot on Saturday so it may be worthwhile taking up the option to photograph inside Southwark Cathedral where it may be cooler. Lots of interesting things to see and photograph around the cathedral interior, especially the monuments and memorials.

Portsmouth 'PhotoWalk'

I'm hoping for good weather next Sunday 5th Aug to make up for the washout which was the last PhotoWalk in Portsmouth. There's a lot to see and photograph in and around the Town Centre but when it's wet, dull and cold best to postpone to a later date!

Guildford PhotoWalk 15 July

Another great PhotoWalk last Sunday and the weather stayed fine for once!

A good group of people keen to see the 'unseen' beauty of Guildford's buildings and to get to know how to use their cameras - including one high end camera phone.

City of London 'PhotoWalk' 10th June

Saturday's 'PhotoWalk'

A very enjoyable PhotoWalk was held in Guildford last Saturday. The weather was brilliant and the group was good. A pre-walk get together at the Continental Cafe set us up for the day.

We started off by spending time looking around and photographing the interior of Holy Trinity church, then walked down the High Street to Tunsgate Arch, observing buildings and details en-route.  A refreshment stop at the Continental, then into Guildford Castle grounds and photographs of The Tower.

Finally down into Quarry Street with the walk finishing outside Guildford Museum.
